Problem:

Openoffice has no text on the menu bar. Openoffice contains lines instead of menu text making it impossible to read the menus.

Operating system:

Linux Mint 6 Felicia (Ubuntu variant)

Solution:

Launch OpenOffice calc spreadsheet application. On the menu, go to Tools>>Options (Tools is the 6^th menu from the left and Options is the last menu item in the dropdown). Expand OpenOffice.org and select "View" (4^th item in the list on left) and de-select Screen Font Anti-aliasing. Then activate your effects again; the fonts stay.
